The ‘Mangroves International Coordination Action – MICA’ (MICA) will host a hybrid workshop at Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) in Mombasa, Kenya on 21 and 22 August organized by the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), KMFRI and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
During this workshop, our partners will:
- share knowledge, expertise and good practices on the IUCN Red List of Mangrove Ecosystems (RLE) to prepare the regional validation and consultation of the IUCN draft assessments for 2 mangrove ecoregions in the Western Indian Ocean region and South Africa.; and
- brainstorm on how to reinforce our international mangrove collaboration and new partnerships in the WIO region, South Africa and beyond for fundamental research, education, capacity building, awareness raising, etc.
