The next edition of the VLIZ Marine Science Day will be a very special one, as VMSD24 formally frames the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This unique edition of the VLIZ Marine Science Day will take place at De Grote Post in Ostend on Wednesday 6 March 2024.
The thematic will focus on the three specific objectives of European Mission ‘Restore our Oceans and Waters’: (1) Protect and restore marine and freshwaters ecosystems and biodiversity, (2) prevent and eliminate pollution of our oceans, seas and waters, and (3) make the blue economy carbon-neutral and circular.
Besides, it will highlight the connection of projects connected to this EU initiative (Mission Ocean) but at the same time to the Ocean Decade.
Finally, this event aims to be a pre-2024 Ocean Decade Conference event, with a booth dedicated to creating awareness and engage ECOPs to this initiative in a creative way. Additionally, the National Decade Committee for Belgium would like to offer 6 travel grants for ECOPs to assist to the 2024 Ocean Decade Conference in Barcelona.
