Saône to Rhône is a field campaign combining interdisciplinary research, education, and awareness-raising around a common theme: the relationship between human populations and aquatic environments.
The project takes the form of a boat trip down two major French rivers to the sea: the Saône and the Rhône. The campaign is carried out aboard a solar-powered boat that has been redesigned as a roving laboratory for data collection.
Accompanied by several French laboratories and scientists, the scientific project focuses on human impact on aquatic environments (plastic pollution, biodiversity) and on ecological restoration.
The mediation and educational project is aimed at schoolchildren and the general public. About forty stopovers will enable the team to meet local residents. At the same time, a communication campaign and the production of a podcast are intended to reach a wider audience.
