Hosted by the European Petrophysics Consortium (EPC) at the University of Leicester, the 7-day summer school introduces the downhole logging and sediment core petrophysical data primarily obtained by the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP).
The heart of the summer school consists of introductory sessions on petrophysics, the study of the physical and chemical properties of rocks and their interactions with fluids. It explores the relevance and unique insights of these data for a range of marine geoscience topics, e.g., paleoclimatology, sedimentology, hydrogeology, geology, and ecology, via real world applications in advanced tutorials provided by international experts. The summer school is tailored to individuals who:
- are early in their career and/or would like to introduce and make use of more physical properties data in their research; and/or
- would like to get more involved in IODP in some capacity, either through accessing and using data or sailing on an IODP research expedition.
We welcome and invite applicants from all career stages and geoscience backgrounds to apply for the summer school. To learn more and apply check out our website for more information.
