Atlantic Plastics 2026 will bring together experts from different fields to address marine plastic pollution from the Arctic to the Antarctic.
The symposium aims to advance interdisciplinary dialogue across all aspects of plastic pollution, including monitoring and assessment, modelling of sources and pathways, impacts on ecosystems and human health, circular economy and innovation, mitigation and restoration strategies, and the science–policy interface.
It aligns with the Ocean Decade by fostering co-design between science and policy, and strengthening capacity building and international cooperation.
By providing a platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and synthesis across regions and disciplines, Atlantic Plastics 2026 contributes to accelerating science-informed action to reduce plastic pollution and its impacts. The main audience includes scientists, policymakers, industry and innovation actors, NGOs, Indigenous and local knowledge holders, students, and early-career researchers.
The Call for abstracts is now open. With reference to the proposed Themes for the symposium, the conference invites contributions on new scientific and local knowledge as well as policy-related initiatives in the field of plastic pollution to discuss ways and means to reduce the impact of plastics on marine ecosystems. The symposium will include platform presentations, posters and panel discussions. The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 31 Март, with acceptance being notified by 31 Май.
