Fishing For Litter is Ogyre’s regenerative solution to combat marine plastic pollution, creating value from ocean waste, while supporting coastal communities and fostering critical ocean awareness.
Local fishers and communities play a central role by collecting plastic waste directly from the Ocean and other marine ecosystems. Once ashore, the waste is managed by local partners, who oversee its recycling or responsible disposal, ensuring the best possible end-of-life treatment in compliance with local regulations.
After each collection, photos and the weight of each batch are uploaded to Ogyre’s blockchain-enabled platform and double-verified both on-site and by the Central Team. Once validated, each kilogram is uniquely assigned to the Ogyre Community—activists and brand partners engaged in active collection campaigns. Transparency and traceability are ensured at every stage through verified processes, blockchain technology, and publicly accessible protocols certified by third parties.
Ogyre provides real-time datasets and science- and evidence-based KPIs to deepen understanding of the interactions among marine ecosystems, pollution, and local communities. These KPIs are mapped to the United Nations SDGs and aligned with other relevant ESG disclosure standards and frameworks.
