Following the First Global Planning Meeting, the North Atlantic Regional Workshop took place in Halifax (Canada) from 07 to 10 January, 2020. The event was hosted by the Ocean Frontier Institute - with the support of Fisheries and Oceans Canada - and co-organized with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) as coordinating body for the Decade.

The North Atlantic Regional Workshop offers a crucial opportunity to co‐design mission‐oriented research strategies in accordance with the 2030 Agenda, focusing on needs and Priorities of the countries of the North Atlantic in terms of transformation of knowledge systems; acceleration of technology transfer; implementation of training and education; and the promotion of science‐political dialogues.
