Supported by WIOMSA-SCALABLE, a consortium of regional and international partners convened a highly interactive 5-day in-person training workshop on co-design for ocean sustainability, designed specifically for the ocean actors from the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) region.
The training took place on 11-15 August 2025 at the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) in Cape Town, South Africa. It was hosted by: Nelson Mandela University (NMU), South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), University of Cape Town (UCT), International Ocean Institute of Southern Africa & Germany (IOI), Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT), and IOC, with the support of international experts in co-design and science-policy-society engagement.
This Lessons Learned Report provides a summary and key insights on the training from the organisers and participants.
