Mission: Fundamental and applied research in oceanography and marine sciences and technology
• Hydrophysical, hydrochemical and hydrobiological investigations in the oceans and seas, their physical fields, energy-mass exchange and the ocean - atmosphere interaction; the state of marine and oceanic ecosystems;
• Marine geology, geophysics and geochemistry of the World Ocean and continent-ocean transition zones, geosystems and mineral resources;
• Development of new methods and creating means of ocean and atmosphere research, development and application of remote sensing methods, and creation of oceanographic data analysis databases.
