The Center for Conservation Bioacoustics (CCB) is a large research laboratory housed within Cornell University’s Lab of Ornithology, with a mission of using acoustic technology to conserve wildlife and habitats around the world, with a central research focus on global marine ecosystems. CCB is a recognized world leader in the field of marine bioacoustics, having developed recording hardware and software to catalyze the field over the past 20 years. CCB has collected millions of hours of marine audio datasets from around the world, and these surveys are being used to document global ocean change, changes in the behavior and ecology of marine organisms, impacts to marine protected species, the extent of human influences on marine ecosystems, all of which used for marine spatial planning and ocean sustainability.
