The Brazilian Sea Observatory (BSO) is a web-based coastal monitoring service for the Brazilian coast, aiming to integrate in-situ measurements, satellite observations, model forecasts, vessel positions, and an on-demand oil spill tool (https://brazilianseaobservatory.org/). The main goal is to contribute to coastal and marine environment management, maritime safety management, marine resources management, oceanic and weather forecasting, tourism activities, fisheries and aquaculture, and scientific research. Different modelling and observation (satellite and in-situ) products from the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS) are available for visualization, including salinity, temperature, water level, currents, and biogeochemical variables (e.g, nutrients and chlorophyll). An operational modelling system based on a downscaling approach from the CMEMS global model provides high-resolution forecasts for local coastal systems, initially focusing on the south-eastern Brazilian shelf. All information available in the BSO is updated daily.
