The University of Algarve (UAlg) joint the World University Ranking in 2016 and according to the Times Higher Education (THE) has the highest position regarding the international Outlook parameters within the Portuguese universities (International co-authorship of scientific papers, Percentage of international staff, Percentage of international students. UAlg founded in 1979 is a Young university (also ranked as that in THE) in the touristic Algarve region in southern Portugal. UAlg teaches across six subject areas: arts; literature and history; engineering sciences; life, earth, medicine and allied sciences; social, education and professional training sciences; and economics, management and tourism; but one well knows educational areas are environmental and marine sciences. We have several bachelors, master and PhD programmes running, including several Erasmus Mundus in this field.
UAlg has several Research Centres, but marine sciences are well established, namely through CCMAR and CIMA. UAlg also have and Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer the CRIA centre from where more 30 spin-off where already registered, especially connected to blue growth. UAlg have also several collaborative projects with PALOP’s countries
