Ryan Institute, National University of Ireland Galway, University Road Galway IRL
The National University of Ireland Galway is situated on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean on the West coast of Ireland. Unsurprisingly, Marine Science has always been a strength. Our Marine Scientists are gathered together in the Centre for Ocean Research and Exploration, itself part of the Ryan Institute.
The mission of the Centre for Ocean Research and Exploration is to advance knowledge of the ocean and its interactions with land, atmosphere, and society through excellent interdisicplinary research in marine and coastal systems embracing the UN Sustainable Development Goals in support of national and international strategic priorities.
The Centre for Ocean Research and Exploration comprises a multidisciplinary group of principal investigators including oceanographers, chemists, microbiologists, zoologists, and botanists who are involved in projects in all the world's oceans. With excellent access to national research vessels including RV Celtic Explorer and the associated deep-water ROV Holland I, we are enthusiastic collaborators in ocean and global-scale projects.
