Satellite Observations of Coastal Ocean (SOCO) focuses on enhancing satellite observation capabilities for coastal ecosystems, leveraging global observation and historical retrospective capacities of remote sensing to understand ecosystem evolution under the dual impacts of human activities and climate change, supporting decision-making for coastal health and sustainable development.
Satellite Observations of Coastal Ocean (SOCO) will:
- Perform atmospheric correction for high-resolution satellites, addressing challenges like turbid waters, land-sourced aerosols, and adjacency effects.
- Study bio-optical characteristics, construct high-accuracy remote sensing models, and validate them with field observations.
- Establish a satellite monitoring system for near-real-time observation of coastal water quality, harmful algal blooms, riverine fluxes, and air-sea CO2 fluxes.
- Produce long-term remote sensing datasets for ecosystem evolution. 5. Build an online analysis platform for data sharing, and provide training for developing countries and regional agencies.
