Melting Art, Creativity and Marine Sciences to Foster Ocean Literacy in the Mediterranean Area — Art4Sea is an interdisciplinary project focusing on ocean health, supported by the EACEA through the Creative Europe programme.
It brings together 24 international artists, who were trained in ocean conservation, sustainable art practices, and digital technologies and embarked on immersive residencies across three Mediterranean islands: Ustica (Italy), Alonissos (Greece), and Gozo (Malta). Supported by expert mentors, the artists engaged deeply with the natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and local communities of these islands to translate urgent environmental issues into 12 digital and 12 physical artworks (including murals, sculptures, and UW sculptures) that resonate emotionally with the public.
By integrating these creations into the islands’ natural environments and sharing them globally through a digital exhibition platform, Art4Sea bridges the local and the global, making the ocean’s challenges not only visible but deeply felt.
