The CURRENT is a contemporary eco-centric art exhibition where creativity meets the community. This project seeks to bridge this gap by bringing climate-focused exhibitions to the very people at the center of the crisis.
This approach emphasizes humanity over the planet, highlighting the lived realities of those directly affected. By making the exhibition accessible and participatory, we aim to amplify local voices, foster understanding, and drive collective action. Instead of hosting exhibitions in conventional galleries, the project will create immersive, community-centered experiences, where stories, visuals, and narratives of climate change are presented in open and relatable settings. This exhibition format has been designed to be cross-country, as the team will host a series of events in climate-affected communities across Nigeria.
The pilot project would be hosted in Akodo-Ise Community, Lagos State, Nigeria, with subsequent ones taking place in other coastal communities in Nigeria.
