Oceans and seas are highly vulnerable to biological invasions, threatening ecosystems, economies, and human health. Marinas are recognized as a hotspot for Alien Invasive Species (AIS) pathway. The recreational ports constitute a priority sites for monitoring.

This intensive one-week training will combine field sampling, laboratory analysis, and data management (WORMS database), led by international taxonomic experts.

Targeting young researchers and PhD students from the African and Mediterranean countries, it will strengthen regional capacity, standardize detection protocols, and foster South–South cooperation. The activity supports Ocean Decade Challenges 2, 9, and 10 by protecting biodiversity, advancing knowledge, and building a skilled ocean workforce.
