The traveling exhibition „Meeresmenschen“ (Sea People) highlights protagonists who deal with the seas on the Schleswig-Holstein North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts in a forward-looking way.
They explore the coasts and seas, complain about the climate, inhabit islands and Halligen, campaign for the protection of living creatures and landscapes and live from and with the sea. The coasts of Schleswig Holstein represent only a small section of the European coasts. However, many themes are exemplary for other coastal sections of the Baltic and North Sea in Europe.
With the exhibition, we want to raise awareness of the seas, their current crises and solutions through the protagonists depicted. Through the format in which we combine the exhibited people with audio tracks of the interviews conducted, as well as educational offers for children and young people, we create a low-threshold offer to introduce the topics of the seas.
