The “Ocean Futures” exhibition is dedicated to the body of water that spans the world.
With his expansive installation “Balangay Spacecraft,” Filipino artist Leeroy New transforms Futurium’s first special exhibition into a speculative future world: between a fantastic mangrove landscape and an artificial island, an oceanic atmosphere opens up that is both fascinating and unsettling.
“Ocean Futures” asks about the future of the oceans – and our role in it. For as vast as the oceans appear, they are just as vulnerable. Climate change, overfishing, species loss, pollution, and geopolitical tensions threaten their balance.
“Ocean Futures” is presented in cooperation with The Mind Museum Manila.
