Students participating in the COMPASS program at The Harbour School will explore Hong Kong’s coastal habitats during the Intertidal Treasures program led by Dr James Ducker.

Moving from sandflats to rocky shores and then back to the Marine Science Center, the students will observe the rich diversity of life along the city’s shores. The program focuses on coastal biodiversity and ecosystem services, linking their observations to ideas like habitat protection and the many ways nature supports people. Throughout the program, students will use field and lab techniques, even developing and testing their own experimental designs, which aims to give them a clearer sense of how scientists study coastal ecosystems.
