Join the International Conference on Ocean and Human Health in Lisbon, Portugal on 11 and 12 December!
Human and ocean health are intrinsically linked — from regulating the planet’s climate to providing food, livelihood and well-being to billions of people across the world. But pollution, climate change and other human activities threaten to compromise the health of the ocean and the multiple benefits it brings
This complex interaction between human and ocean health requires a transdisciplinary and multisectoral approach, with the aim of identifying opportunities, gaps, needs, and integrated courses of action.
As part of the Ocean Decade, the National Decade Committee of Portugal, in partnership with the National Decade Committees of Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, UK and USA will bring together ocean scientists, experts in medicine, health and social sciences, as well as policymakers, representatives from the private sector and civil society organisations, for two days of dialogue on the vital relationship between ocean and human health.
Additional partners include the Portuguese Committee for the IOC, the Ministry of Agriculture and Maritime Affairs, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation and the Project “Autonomous Study”, the Portuguese Council for Health and the Environment, the Portuguese Academy of Sciences, the Maritime Academy, IPMA, EMEPC, the Monaco Scientific Centre, CIESM, CIMA/Univ. Alg., the Univ. Aveiro and CESAM, LNEC, the Global Action Network on Sustainable Food from the Oceans and Inland Waters and MYOCEAN.Net.
