Bringing the event to INCOIS, alongside the broader International Tsunami Symposium, underscores a strong commitment to advancing tsunami resilience and coastal safety under the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
This First ODTP Conference provides a pivotal platform to unite Tsunami Early Warning Systems (TEWS) and coastal resilience communities under the umbrella of Ocean Decade Challenge 6 and the Ocean Decade Tsunami Programme (ODTP). With a focus on coastal hazards—especially tsunamis—the Conference aims to:
- Strengthen collaboration and networks among diverse stakeholders.
- Co-design strategic pathways for enhanced resilience and disaster risk reduction.
- Accelerate action and impact under the ODTP framework.
- Review progress of endorsed ODTP-related actions.
- Showcase how these actions contribute to Ocean Decade Challenge 6 on coastal community resilience.
- Share knowledge, best practices, and experiences across regions and sectors.
- Identify gaps, challenges, priorities, and opportunities for implementing the ODTP Research, Development, and Innovation (ODTP-RDI) agenda.
- Accelerate momentum and engagement around ODTP and Challenge 6.
- Propose new actions and outline a forward-looking roadmap, with particular support for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
- Enhance coordination, collaboration, partnerships, and synergies among ODTP initiatives and related efforts.
