“Marine Coastal Treasures” is a photo exhibition on the external fences of UNESCO’s Headquarters in Paris that invites you to explore the life-sustaining hotspots of our planet’s coastlines and marine ecosystems. These diverse habitats support a vast range of species, yet face unprecedented pressures as the human footprint expands along our shores. Climate change, habitat loss, and overuse challenge these ecosystems in ways that underscore the urgent need for action.
Co-production with MaCoBioS, a research project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, this exhibition highlights both human and environmental struggles, reminding us of our shared responsibility to the ocean and to ourselves.
“Marine Coastal Treasures” is featured within the four-part ocean exhibition “The Ocean’s vital role in shaping life on Earth”, organized by UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission. This overarching exhibition addresses the critical challenges facing our oceans and coastal communities, using creative collaborations and partnerships to raise awareness and inspire action.
