The 7-day summer school is hosted by the European Petrophysics Consortium (EPC) at the University of Leicester. Participants will be introduced to the basics of downhole logging and core petrophysical properties using data and examples from the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) and the International Ocean Drilling Programme (IODP3).
The heart of the summer school consists of engaging lectures taught by EPC staff and distinguished international guest lecturers, hands-on exercises, group activities, and software training. The course explores the relevance and unique insights of these data for a range of marine geoscience topics, e.g., paleoclimatology, sedimentology, hydrogeology, geology, and ecology, via real world applications. The summer school is tailored to individuals who:
- are early in their career and/or would like to introduce and make use of more physical properties data in their research and/or;
- would like to get more involved in IODP/IODP3 in some capacity, either through accessing and using data or sailing on an IODP research expedition.
We welcome and invite applicants from all career stages and geoscience backgrounds to apply for the summer school. To learn more and apply check out our website for more information.
