For the second time, the Kiel handball club THW Kiel called for people to get involved “for the coast”!
Last year, around 150 people took part in the beach clean-up on Saturday, Febuary 17th 2024 around the Schilksee Olympic Harbor near Kiel – and collected 1.1 tons of garbage! ! The volunteer divers from “Ghost Diving Germany” also had a lot to do that day: The removed rubbish and the consequences of the devastating Baltic Sea storm surge from the harbor basin. The Kiel marine and coastal protection project “För de Coast” is also gaining attention far away from Germany: In cooperation with “CleanHub”, garbage was also collected on the beach on the Latuhalat coast in Indonesia. Around 70 schoolchildren, students and local residents did voluntary work for marine protection and collected a total of 4.3 tons of plastic waste from the beach.
Join this year’s clean-up event to protect marine ecosystems and raise awareness about ocean conservation.
