Shisiwani Eco-2030 2560 1440 Ocean Decade

Lead institution:

Parc National Shisiwani – Comoros

Shisiwani-Eco 2030 aims to strengthen community-led marine conservation and sustainable fisheries within the Shisiwani National Park, a fully marine and coastal protected area in Anjouan, Comoros. The initiative promotes ecological monitoring, capacity building, and inclusive governance to protect coral reefs and marine biodiversity.

SHECO23 supports local fishers with training, equipment, and education programs, while enhancing data collection on marine ecosystems. By engaging schools, women, and youth, the project builds local ocean stewardship. SHECO23 contributes to Ocean Decade goals by advancing coastal resilience, sustainable blue livelihoods, and knowledge sharing in the Western Indian Ocean region.
