By applying an interdisciplinary research approach and combining multi-dimensional observations with numerical simulations, this project elucidates the sediment diffusion process into seawater and the distribution patterns of suspended sediments.
It reveals the coupling mechanism between water-sediment dynamics and carbon emissions in estuaries and adjacent sea areas, identifying spatio-temporal changes in carbon emissions constrained by the water-sediment interaction process. To clarify the main controlling factors of carbon emissions in the subaqueous delta of estuaries, this study provides scientific support for exploring the sink enhancement potential of estuaries and improving their sink enhancement schemes.
