The NSF Coastlines and People (CoPe) program supports diverse, innovative, multi-institution Coastal Research Hubs that are focused on critically important coastlines and people research that is integrated with broadening participation goals.
The hubs are structured using a convergent science approach, at the nexus between coastal sustainability, human dimensions, and coastal processes to transform understanding of interactions among natural, human-built, and social systems in coastal, populated environments. CoPe supports Focused Hubs, projects $1 million or less per year for 3 to 5 years, as well as Large-scale Hubs, projects of $2-4 million per year, for up to 5 years.
