Mariculture Overview in the Caribbean

Mariculture Overview in the Caribbean 2560 1707 Ocean Decade

Lead institution:

Waterfield institute – United States of America (USA)

Our mission is to document and synthesize the expertise of Caribbean mariculture farmers, scientists, and communities to support sustainable growth, food security, reduced overfishing, and ecosystem restoration.

Sailing from Florida to Trinidad and Tobago, our team will interview farmers, gather data on operations, water quality, and environmental conditions, and compile findings into a comprehensive report for farmers, governments, NGOs, and industry.

This resource will promote collaboration, share best practices, and guide the sector’s development. We will also produce a documentary capturing farmers’ lives, challenges, and successes, aiming to educate and inspire wider engagement in Caribbean mariculture while living full-time aboard a 1968 Morgan 24’ sailboat.
