Our Decade Action focuses on novel ocean-based climate interventions, such as seaweed-farming and marine carbon dioxide removal, being implemented globally. Governance transitions are needed to realize opportunities, manage competing demands for marine resources, and mitigate risks.
We ask: how can marine governance evolve to meet these challenges? This is urgent, as investment in climate-impacted oceans accelerates, yet interventions remain ad hoc and potentially ungovernable. The Governing Changing Oceans project unites experts in marine governance, fisheries, and climate science with practitioners in blue carbon, finance, conservation, Indigenous governance, co-management, and community resilience. Our mission is to collaboratively provide governments, industries, NGOs, donors, and ocean stakeholders with practical insights on governance transitions fit for novel interventions in climate-impacted oceans.
