Gamifying tools to increase Coastal resilience 1500 1000 Ocean Decade

Lead institution:

University of Cape Coast – Ghana

Game-based learning is an active and immersive communication tool that can strengthen coastal community resilience to climate change.

This project aims to collaboratively create a board game, later adapted into a video game, to promote resilience thinking in coastal communities facing hazards. Development will incorporate local research, cultural insights, and expertise in game design. The game’s impact will be tested with school students from a coastal town. A design thinking approach will guide the co-creation of audiovisual elements, ensuring active participation from beneficiaries and early integration of visual and auditory features familiar to coastal communities.
