Lead institution:
Equatic – United States of America (USA)
This Decade Action will demonstrate the Equatic Process—a modular, onshore seawater electrolysis technology that removes atmospheric CO₂ and co-produces carbon-negative hydrogen.
Building on successful pilots in Los Angeles and Singapore, the next step is a larger demonstration facility in Singapore.
The project will validate carbon removal performance, environmental safety, and monitoring systems in tropical coastal waters, generating open-access data to inform permitting, crediting, and future deployments of marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) under real-world operating conditions.
Delivered through partnerships with local agencies, researchers, and engineering firms, the project will strengthen regulatory readiness and technical capacity in Southeast Asia while creating a replicable model for integrating ocean-based carbon removal into broader climate mitigation and sustainable development strategies.
