Lead institution:

YME Bahamas – Bahamas

Da Grouper School is an intergenerational Ocean Science Academy dedicated to building capacity for ocean science by engaging youth, elders, and professionals in collaborative research and knowledge sharing.

The academy focuses on filling critical data gaps in the Caribbean and East Africa, regions that face unique challenges related to marine biodiversity, climate change, and sustainable resource management. Through community science, experiential learning, and cross-regional partnerships, Da Grouper School empowers participants to collect and analyze data on key ecosystems, such as coral reefs, mangroves, and seagrasses. This approach enhances scientific understanding and fosters community stewardship and resilience, contributing to global efforts to protect and sustainably manage the ocean.
