Instituto Coral Vivo – Brazil
The Coral Vivo Project is a long-standing Brazilian marine conservation initiative focused on the protection of coral reefs and reef environments and the promotion of Ocean Literacy.
Operating across key coastal regions of Brazil, it integrates scientific research, ecosystem monitoring, environmental education, citizen science, policy advocacy, and youth engagement.
The project contributes to improved reef conservation through national coral bleaching monitoring, standardized data collection, and partnerships with universities and local communities.
Through programs such as “Coral Vivo Goes to the Streets,” the Atlantic Literature Program, and university extension initiatives, it strengthens capacity building, public awareness, and inclusive ocean action.
The project supports the implementation of best practices and contributes directly to SDG 14 and the goals of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
