The WIOMSA-SCALABLE and partners invite applications for a 5-day in-person training workshop on co-design for ocean sustainability.
This interactive training brings together community representatives, scientists, policymakers, and other ocean professionals to learn how to collaborate to solve complex socio-ecological challenges concerning ocean and coasts of the Western Indian Ocean region. Participants will gain tools and experience to apply co-design approaches that integrate diverse knowledge systems, promote inclusive participation, and address real-life marine and coastal challenges. The course includes expert-led sessions, case studies, peer learning, and a field trip, covering topics such as systems thinking, transdisciplinarity, co-management, inclusive facilitation, and effective communication.
The training is an action under the Ocean Decade MARCOP programme.
