BlueCraft Africa is a creative, community-centered initiative that empowers fishermen, youths, women, and coastal communities across Africa by transforming ocean waste into marketable arts, crafts and upcycling innovation.
Rooted in African identity and circular economy principles, the project aims to reduce overdependence on fishing and the extraction of marine resources by providing alternative, sustainable livelihoods.
Through local upcycling hubs, community members receive training in eco-entrepreneurship, convert marine litter into high-quality, marketable products and environmental stewardship.
These hubs also promote ocean literacy and cultural expression, helping to build resilience while preserving marine ecosystems.
By shifting from extraction and exploitation to innovation, BlueCraft Africa supports the conservation and protection of ocean resources, aligning with the UN Ocean Decade goals that ensures cleaner oceans and more sustainable coastal environments for all.
